Port of Hakata

The Port of Hakata is administered by Fukuoka City. Fukuoka City is a dynamic city and was chosen as one of THE WORLD'S 10 HOTTEST CITIES by Newsweek in 2006. In June, 2008, Monocle, an English magazine also listed Fukuoka as THE BEST RETAIL CITY in the world. Hakata Port is located 510 miles from Shanghai Port and only 116 miles from Busan Port and is proud of its best location to be called by cruise ships sailing in East Asia. Its well-developed transportation network of railroads and expressways offers smooth access to popular sightseeing places in Western Japan. About 50% of international sea passengers in Japan use Hakata Port and make the port the busiest international port in Japan. Hakata has the largest number of CIQ staff among Japanese ports and offers speedy immigration proceedings. We believe firmly the Port of Hakata is the best port of call to be firstly called by cruise ships sailing to Japan.

    Yakushima
Miyanoura-dake (1,935 meters), the highest mountain in the Kyushu Region, is in the center of this island, which has a perimeter of 132 kilometers. There are a series of high mountains near Miyanoura-dake and, therefore, this area is called “the Alps on the water”. It is said to rain “35 days a month” here, because this island has very high precipitation. The rainfall on top of the mountain exceeds 10,000 mm annually. In the mountain area, wild animals, such as Yakushima macaque monkeys and Yakushima deer, are unique to this island. Also, old Yakusugi (cedar trees of Yakushima) grow naturally on this island. The “Jomon sugi” is the oldest and largest tree, and is estimated to be over 1,000 years old. The tree’s name of “Jomon” comes from the Jomon Period of Japan’s prehistory. Banyan trees also grow here. Yakushima is the northernmost place for this tree to grow.
