Yokohama, rich in gourmet cuisine, fashion, amusements and culture of every kind. Brimming over with liveliness is the city's Chinatown, transformed many years ago by the Chinese people that came, together with Westerners, to seek trade in Japan. Yokohama's character as an innovative port city of Japan where past and present co-exist is summed up in the Minato Mirai 21 area, which overlooks the Yokohama Bay. It features one of the world's largest ferris wheels, a cluster of skyscrapers that includes the Landmark Tower, and history-rich buildings such as the red brick warehouses that have been reborn as commercial facilities. It is also within easy reach of the present capital, Tokyo, and the ancient capital of Kamakura, home to the Great Buddha statue and a wealth of historical landmarks.

The best way to get to know Yokohama is with a leisurely guided tour of the city. Walking around the main tourist attractions and interacting with local people, you will get a feel for the history of the open port and the atmosphere of the city. Yokohama also boasts exceptional night views, with lookout spots such the Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal, which looks out over the Minato Mirai area. Alternatively, why not wander a little further for the fun and excitement of the amusement park built on an artificial island.
The expansive grounds of Sankei-en Garden in Honmoku, Yokohama are one of Japan's top spots of scenic beauty. It is home to 17 buildings designated as important cultural properties, and presents a spectacular and harmonious interweaving of historical buildings and natural seasonal gardens. After a leisurely stroll in the gardens, head to the memorial hall in the center, where you can enjoy an authentic service of green tea. Next, jump on a train for Soji-ji in Tsurumi, the Head Temple of the Soto school of Buddhism for an experience of Zen meditation and hand-writing sutras. This total focus will leave you feeling refreshed in both body and mind. In the interval of this course rich in the refined and austere Japanese sense of beauty, there is also the chance to hunt for unique purchases in the distinctive atmosphere of the Motomachi shopping district.

After enjoying the unique aquarium attractions of the Hakkeijima Sea Paradise Amusement Park, around 30 minutes from Yokohama Station, move on to a truly magical setting: soaring high over the surrounding Minato Mirai area, the Landmark Tower is Japan's tallest building. 256m above ground level on the 65th floor is the 'Tearoom in the Sky', filled with the sounds of tea being prepared by the landlord. From its windows, you can watch the glittering of the ocean, and even see as far as Mt. Fuji (Advanced reservations required). To round off the day, we invite you to take an aerial tour of the Yokohama and bayside nightscape by private helicopter.

Head off to the hot spring town of Hakone, a short distance from Yokohama, and enjoy a leisurely cruise on a pleasure boat around Lake Ashi. With a circumference of around 20km and a total surface area of 7km, this lake was formed in the caldera of the Mt Hakone volcano. The image of the lake and Mt. Fuji overlooking it on the far shore seems to be taken straight out of a classical Japanese painting. After enjoying a relaxing time, have Hakone all to yourself at the hotel on the lake shore. Looking out over Mt. Fuji, time always passes slowly and comfortably at this hotel. Hakone-jinja Shrine on the shore of Lake Ashi also a must-see, and as one would expect from a 'Power Spot', it has an atmosphere heavy with austerity and majesty.
